Fodors review

Wearing a badge on your lapel? You'll be among your own kind here, where the hotel is part of the Seaport World Trade Center, a mammoth conference complex. If you need to keep your mind on business, you won't mind at all that your hotel is a bit distant from the heart of the city. (You'll have a hard time resisting the great pool and fitness center, though.) Inside this gleaming waterfront property is a crisply elegant lobby in hues of hunter green, mustard, and carrot. The huge rooms have handcrafted cherry furniture and marble bathrooms as well as state-of-the-art conveniences such as wireless Internet and (in some rooms), Seaportal, a touch-screen Web portal for phone calls, hotel and meeting updates, and Boston tourism info. A complimentary shuttle runs throughout the day to State Street (the Financial District) and North Station. Bug out of your meeting early to swim in the heated lap pool, or get a facial, at the luxurious Wave Health & Fitness Club. Pros: No-tipping policy, fabulous gym, free shuttle to other parts of Boston. Cons: Located away from city center; no breakfast available before 6 AM; room service is expensive (good, though).

Frommers review

"The independent Seaport Hotel was a pioneer on the South Boston waterfront and remains a sophisticated, eco-conscious presence in the emerging, construction-intensive neighborhood. The hotel, which opened in 1998 and was renovated in 2006, was designed and built (by Fidelity Investments) with every feature pampered, techno-savvy business travelers might dream of. The well-appointed, decent-size rooms have thoughtful features such as pillow-top mattresses, Logan Airport flight information on the TV, and fog-free bathroom mirrors. The views (of the city or harbor) from higher floors of the 18-story building are breathtaking. Across the street from and affiliated with the World Trade Center, the hotel books up unpredictably depending on the schedule there and at the nearby convention center. The kid-conscious staff, pool, weekend packages, and proximity to the Children's Museum make this a good choice for families, too."
